"Hungry" is no way to spend childhood

Every day The Salvation Army helps cure hunger by providing nutritious meals to neighbors in need.

Here in Michigan, one out of six children face food insecurity.

The Salvation Army works to ensure that every member of our community has the food they need to thrive. If you face hunger, we want you to know that you are not alone.

How we help cure hunger

'Lunch Bunch' Meal Program

This lunch program provides free meals twice a week: Mondays and Fridays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All meals are served in our sit-down dining area.  Beyond food, this program fosters a sense of community, support, and faith in action. Those who attend receive a meal and experience encouragement, fellowship, and renewed hope.

"For I was hungry, and you fed me.  I was thirsty and you gave me drink.  I was a stranger and you welcomed me in"  (Matthew 25:35).

Food Pantry

Through the grace of God and the generosity of others in our community, we are able to offer grocery assistance to those in need.  Recipients receive approximately a week's worth of groceries, based on the number of persons in their household.  We are able to offer such assistance with at least 90 days between each visit as a general rule.

To receive assistance, recipients must reside in our service area (Southeast Berrien County and all of Cass County and follow the below instructions:

Visit The Salvation Army offices for food pantry services on Mondays and Fridays from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM or Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Please note that the Food Pantry is closed on Wednesdays.

Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are accepted.  The head of household must provide a valid, state-issued photo ID, such as a Michigan driver’s license, passport, green card, or other government-issued ID. Additionally, you must present proof of identity for each household member, such as a birth certificate, Medicaid/insurance card, or a government-issued ID.  You will also need to provide the total household income for all members.
