CHARLEVOIX COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARDS THE SALVATION ARMY $10,560.00 TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO RESIDENTS OF CHARLEVOIX COUNTY.

December 6, 2018, Petoskey, MI- The Charlevoix County Community Foundation awarded The Salvation Army Petoskey Corps with a $10,560.00 grant to serve Charlevoix County residents through their Emergency Financial Assistance Program.

The Salvation Army’s Emergency Financial Assistance Program (EFAP) provides low-income individuals and families with necessities such as heat, electricity, rent, emergency car repair and more. Last year EFAP provided more than $360,000.00 of emergency financial assistance to people in their 3-county service area which includes Charlevoix County residents. Charlevoix County assistance totaled more than $96,000.00; a figure that continues to rise annually.

Envoy Greg Irwin says “while we are out enjoying all of the light and festivities that this season brings we have to remember that to many, this season is filled with very cold nights and very high energy bills which brings a lot of stress and worry to individuals and parents who are trying to make ends meet on a limited budget. Our goal is to come along side those who are struggling and provide them with a peace of mind that they will not have to choose between feeding their families and keeping them warm, keeping the lights on, or keeping a roof over their heads”.
