Our Local Leadership

Envoy Roman Hank

Roman grew up in Michigan’s Eastern Upper Peninsula and moved to the Petoskey area in 1979. Soon after relocating he met his wife Angie and they just celebrated their 40th anniversary. The Hanks have two grown children; a daughter who lives in Grand Rapids and a son who lives with them in Harbor Springs.

God guided Roman; showing him what He wants him to do in this life. As Roman worked to overcome some of life’s challenges the Lord was there to see him through.

Responding to the Lord’s calling, Roman switched careers halfway through his life from truck driving to helping people. Although he had known Jesus since he was young it wasn’t until 2000 that he really came to know and surrender his life to Him and his life has never been the same since.

In 2003 he became a soldier in The Salvation Army and shortly afterwards, he became the Corps Sergeant Major, which he held for several years up until this past June. As the Corps Sergeant Major, Roman often lead the flock in prayer and worship services while the prior Envoy was away on business or holiday.

Roman and Angie have worked for The Salvation Army over 17 years each. Together they held an appointment in Big Rapids as Corps Administrators; but then returned to Northern Michigan in 2012 to help care for their elderly mothers.

Roman has held varying positions in The Salvation Army. He started out as a Case-worker and then became the Community Resource Coordinator for the Petoskey Corps. He was the Business Manager of the Cheboygan Service Extension Unit for many years and recently he came back to the Petoskey Corps as the Property Manager. Angie has been with the Petoskey Corps since 2013 and is the Manager of the Family Thrift Store.

Roman feels truly blessed to be called for this new assignment which he takes very seriously as Envoy of the Petoskey Corps. He looks forward to serving God and His people for a few years before retiring in our community.
