CHRISTMAS IN JULY AND RIDE FOR THE RED KETTLE CAMPAIGN
SUPPORTS YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS AND SERVICES FOR STUGGLING NEIGHBORS
JULY 1, 2024, Northern, MI- The Salvation Army of Petoskey raised over $6,500 on Saturday, July 6th during the 2024 Christmas in July Campaign and Ride for the Red Kettle. Bell-ringers and bikers visited many locations in Emmet, Charlevoix and Antrim counties in combined effort to raise money and awareness for others in need. Many came out to support the effort including dedicated community partners like the Central Lake Lions Club who rang at Merrie’s Market and the Rotary Club of Little Traverse Bay Sunset. A big thank you goes out to Elk Rapids Rotary Club members and friends who rang and extra day at the Village Market for the 4th year in a row.
“Christmas in July and the Ride for the Red Kettle not only raises money for those we serve but also allows us the opportunity to connect with our community to remind them that our struggling neighbors need help year-round” says Corps Administrator Roman Hank. “Now that food and other basic needs has dramatically increased due to inflation, our neighbors need our help more than ever and in record numbers”.
The Salvation Army would also like to thank all the businesses that made the campaign possible by allowing them to ring at their locations such as: The Village Market, Merrie’s Market and Eastport Market in Antrim County, Oleson’s Food Store and Louie’s Fresh Market in Charlevoix County and Oleson’s Food Store, Louie’s Fresh Market, the Petoskey Chamber of Commerce, Walmart and the Harbor Springs Market in Emmet County. Money raised at Red Kettle locations stays in our local communities to provide basic human needs to struggling neighbors such as heat, electricity, rent, food, shelter, substance abuse support meetings, holiday assistance, child and senior programs and more.
