LOCAL BIKER GROUP NORTHERN KNIGHTS 30TH ANNUAL TOY RUN RAISED $13,967.00 FOR CHILDREN IN NEED
December 20, 2018, Petoskey, MI- A local biker group, Northern Knights, raised $13,967.00 to provide low-income children of Emmet, Cheboygan, Antrim, and Charlevoix Counties Christmas gifts through The Salvation Army of Petoskey and Cheboygan. Although it may be surprising to some that a group of bikers have such compassion for children, it comes to no surprise to The Salvation Army. This is not the first time the Northern Knights have stepped up for children in need; in fact, this was their 30th annual “Toy Run”.
President Nick Slowinski said “This is the most important thing this club does in an entire calendar year. Tonight we met with The Salvation Army to truly put the money to work in our communities. The money so many of you helped us raise. I can’t thank you all enough. Without the people who sponsor this event, and buy the paper motorcycles, and buy the T-shirt’s...this fundraiser would be nothing. Because of all of you, we were able to donate $13,967 dollars to The Salvation Army. This will help hundreds and hundreds of families in 4 Northern Michigan counties. Thank you to each and every single person who helped make this happen. 30 successful years of partnership with The Salvation Army, but this is record-breaking.”
Roman Hank of The Salvation Army in Cheboygan would like to extend “A huge thank you to the Northern Knights Motorcycle club- all the men and women that go beyond the call of duty to provide Christmas Assistance to in excess of 1,000 children throughout the 4-county area. We couldn’t do it without you”. While Envoy, Greg Irwin added “Hats off to the Northern Knights! The Salvation Army Petoskey Corps greatly appreciates the thousands of children’s lives that have been touched over the last 30 years because of their continued efforts and dedication to our community- children who otherwise would not have had any presents to open on Christmas day. These are just ordinary folks who because of their big hearts and compassion rally their communities together to produce extraordinary results”.
