Application for Financial Assistance

 

Welcome!  The form below is used to gather initial intake and eligibility information for those seeking financial assistance from The Salvation Army of Cedar Rapids (serving Linn County & Anamosa).  Submission of this form is only for initial screening and is not approval of assistance.  Applications for financial assistance are accepted the 1st - 3rd of each month.

Application for the rent assistance program requires:
Income- The household should have an income source greater than or equal to 2 times the rent to show that the living situation is feasible.  Example: if rent is $500 income should be $1000 or more.
Financial crisis - A documented and verifiable financial crisis/emergency that made paying the rent not possible.  
Eviction prevention – We are not able to assist in a situation where it will not result in the stabilization of housing. An example of this would be a balance of more than one month’s rent.
Current residence – Must be living at the address rent is being requested for.
 
Application for utility assistance program requires*:

  • A total balance owed of $500 or less.
  • Current residence – Must be living at the address assistance is being requested for
    *A documented and verifiable financial crisis/emergency is not required to apply for this assistance, but please note that priority is given to households where financial crisis made paying for the utility bill not possible.

Review process:  Applications will be considered in the order received until funds are allocated.  Households will be contacted by phone or email to inform them of the initial screening eligibility by the close of business on the 15th of the month.
