Cashless Donations at the Dane County Kettles

Madison, WI (October 28, 2019) ­-- As America goes cashless, The Salvation Army is making it easier for donors to give back during the Christmas season by making a gift with Apple Pay or Google Pay at the iconic red kettles. Smart chips and QR codes on red kettle signs allow shoppers to simply “tap” or scan their phones to make a digital donation. Forty Kettle Pay locations across Dane County will be available this season.

Shoppers will be directed to a custom donation page that accepts Apple or Google payment options. The funds will then be distributed to local Salvation Army units based on the donor’s billing ZIP code, and an email receipt will be sent directly to their phone.

The Red Kettle Campaign begins Friday, November 8, 2019, kicking off at Blain’s Farm and Fleet on Stoughton Rd. Only 15% of shifts have been filled so far despite a campaign total of ~23,000 hours. The Red Kettle goal for this Christmas is $600,000, the entirety of which directly supports the programs and services The Salvation Army runs year-round, including two homeless shelters, intensive case management, a medical and dental clinic for the under- or non-insured, a community center with summer day camp and after school programs, and chapel.
