We give kids their parents back

Our programs provide the tools to treat the symptoms - and the root causes - of alcohol and drug dependence.

Every day in America, over 6,500 people are hospitalized for substance misuse.

The Salvation Army believes that, as man is body, soul, and spirit, a spiritual avenue in rehabilitation is as necessary as a psychological, medical, and physical approach. The aim of The Salvation Army Harbor Light Center program is to provide quality spiritual, physical, mental, and social rehabilitation to all who accept this specialized help.

Through management practices and staff development activities, The Salvation Army Harbor Light Center strives to provide services that are consumer and family-focused, strengths and evidence-based, individualized, culturally competent, outcome-based, cost-efficient, and the least restrictive.

The services of The Salvation Army Harbor Light Center are available to all persons in need who come seeking help, regardless of race, gender, sexual preference, age, religion, ethnicity, or disability. The program’s primary service area is Central Indiana, though admissions are regularly made from anywhere in the State.

Individuals who meet the admission criteria of the respective treatment, and who appear motivated for treatment, will be accepted into the appropriate level of care. The Salvation Army Harbor Light Center program shall collaborate with other community providers in the human service system in order to meet the needs of the individual and to be responsive to the community.

Our Services

Each card below gives a brief intro to the services offered at The Harbor Light Center of Indianapolis.

Withdrawal Management

The residential sub-acute detoxification program provides medical intervention 24 hours a day, seven days a week for individuals who are in acute physical distress as a result of their alcohol or drug abuse.  The Withdrawal Management/Detoxification unit is staffed with state-licensed and certified nursing personnel and is supervised by a licensed physician. Upon admission to the Withdrawal Management/Detoxification unit, the nursing staff conducts a complete nursing assessment. The physician prescribes a medication regimen for the management of the client's withdrawal symptoms and health risks involved with the detoxification process. The length of stay is between 5-10 days determined by the type of substance used, the amount used, and the client's physical condition. Each client receives a clinical assessment in order to link the client with additional services after completion of the Withdrawal Management/Detoxification program.
