$10,000 Challenge
Starting on Thursday, December 7 and running through Saturday, December 9, all donations to Salvation Army Red Kettles will be doubled up to $10,000 thanks to an anonymous gift. This 3-day match means that every dollar put into the iconic Red Kettles will turn into two dollars and make twice the impact when put to use in the community in 2024.
The Salvation Army ministers to the needs of Tippecanoe County residents throughout the year, offering assistance with rent and utilities, providing food during hard times, and engaging youth through programming and camps. In 2022, The Salvation Army provided more than 44,000 meals and grocery orders to local households and 6,400 toys and clothing items to children for Christmas. These and other impactful programs are made possible each year because of donations dropped into Red Kettles in November and December.
"In our community there are many families, individuals, and youth who are struggling to find their way," said Envoy Audrey Schneider of The Salvation Army Lafayette Corps. "With your help, The Salvation Army is working hard to make a positive difference in their lives. The matching gift you are contributing to our kettle campaign not only extends our ability to provide much-needed programs and services, but it also encourages others to give generously. Thank you for making a difference!"
Shoppers looking for a Red Kettle this week will find bell ringers at Walmart, Sam's Club, JCPenney, Hobby Lobby, and Kohl’s. Volunteer bell ringers are needed to ensure that the goal of raising $10,000 in just three days can be achieved.
