Christmas Blessing: $15,000 Red Kettle Match
Salvation Army bell ringers have much to ring about this week in anticipation of a big Christmas gift from an anonymous donor. On the final three days of bell ringing, December 21-23, all donations made to Red Kettles will be doubled up to $15,000 in the hopes of encouraging a little extra generosity from last-minute holiday shoppers.
As the annual Red Kettle Campaign winds down, donations are more important than ever. These humble gifts will come together to fund programs and services throughout 2024, helping local residents during their most difficult days. The Salvation Army offers fun and safe youth activities, a food pantry, emergency financial assistance, and innovative programs like Pathway of Hope, which works to break the cycle of poverty in Tippecanoe County.
"We're currently at just about 60% of our Christmas fundraising goal," said Captain Rachel Johnson of The Salvation Army Lafayette Corps. "The support of this wonderful 'Angel Donor' and our community is very much appreciated right now. If you can't get out to a Red Kettle before Christmas, our online Virtual Red Kettle is also an option. Every gift counts toward this special match!"
The Salvation Army's online Virtual Red Kettle is a fun peer-to-peer campaign that lets supporters create their own virtual kettle and "ring the bell" right from home. There are plenty of ways to support the campaign: make a donation, create your own virtual kettle, or simply share the link with your personal and professional network to encourage them to give back in the easy and safe way.
Shoppers looking for a Red Kettle this week will find bell ringers at Walmart, Sam's Club, JCPenney, Hobby Lobby, and Tippecanoe Mall near the indoor entrances to JCPenney and Kohl's. Volunteer bell ringers are needed to ensure that the goal of raising $15,000 in the final three days can be achieved.
Anyone interested in volunteering to ring a bell this week is invited to visit RegisterToRing.com and find a location, date, and time that works for their schedule. Volunteers can also call The Salvation Army directly at (765) 742-0006 to learn where and when bell ringers are still needed.
