Match Week is Back!
"Match Week" is returning to Tippecanoe County and The Salvation Army's iconic Red Kettles are getting a much-needed boost during the last days of the annual Christmas fundraising campaign.
December 16-24 cash donations dropped into Red Kettles across the county will be doubled thanks to generous gifts from the community. A total of $25,000 has been offered as a match to encourage holiday shoppers to give a little more and make a big impact in the lives of their neighbors in need.
A local couple, who is giving anonymously, kicks off Match Week with a $10,000 match Thursday, December 16 through Saturday, December 18. Red Kettle donations on these three days will be doubled up to $10,000, which means that each $1 donation instantly becomes $2.
On December 20 and 21 a second anonymous couple is offering a $5,000 match to encourage donors to give generously on Monday and Tuesday. These donors are long-time supporters of The Salvation Army and see Match Week as a great opportunity to leverage their gift and inspire others.
The last days leading up to Christmas will feature a $10,000 match from the Scheumann Foundation on December 22, 23, and 24. These are some of the busiest shopping days of the year, which means increased foot traffic at stores in Lafayette and West Lafayette.
"We are excited that these donors are using their gifts to create kettle matches," said Lt. Aaron Johnson of The Salvation Army Lafayette Corps. "Our community sees that The Salvation Army is a trusted organization in the eyes of many of our most generous residents, whichhelps them feel more confident that the dollar they put in the kettle will truly be 'doing the most good.'"
Shoppers looking for a Red Kettle during Match Week will find bell ringers at Walmart, Sam's Club, Big Lots, Hobby Lobby, Needlers Fresh Market, Rural King, Kohl’s, Macy’s and JCPenney. Anyone interested in volunteering to ring a bell this holiday season is invited to visit RegisterToRing.com and find a location, date, and time that works for their schedule.
The Tippecanoe County Salvation Army has a goal of raising $115,000 this year through the iconic Red Kettles located throughout Lafayette and West Lafayette. Every donation given to The Salvation Army through the annual Red Kettle Campaign provides help and hope to those in need, and all gifts stay right here in the community where it is given.
