Behind the Bells: Molly the Bell Ringing Dog

Nov 14, 2018

Molly the Bell Ringing Dog has been ringing bells for The Salvation Army since she was a puppy! Read more to learn more about her and her human, Jim below.

Why do you support The Salvation Army?
The Army provides so many programs that help people in different ways, and can always use our support in whatever ways we can.

What has been your favorite experience bell ringing?
We can't really think of just one!

When did you two start bell ringing?
This is our ninth year. Before Molly, a dog named Lady (who also rode on my motorcycle) rang with me for a few years.

Why did you start ringing?
Molly loves to be out and about, and we're helping support a great cause at the same time.

How did you know Molly would love to go bell ringing?
She's so sociable and is used to being around many different people, so I was pretty sure bell ringing would work just fine.

What are some things people say when they see a bell ringing dog?
Most people already recognize her from riding around on my motorcycle. A lot of them know her name, but most people don't know mine! I'm just her personal chauffeur.

How old is Molly?
Molly was born on April 23, 2010. That makes her 8 1/2 years old.

When did you get Molly?
I got her has a puppy when she was 9 weeks old.

How often do you ring bells for The Salvation Army?
Several days a week, weather permitting, unless we're lucky enough to get an indoor site.

What do you believe everyone should know about The Salvation Army?
Everyone should know about the plethora of programs offered by The Salvation Army. These programs help so many people in so many ways.
