National Volunteer Month Spotlight: Wells Fargo

Apr 20, 2020

Wells Fargo not only provides top-notch care to their customers, but their community as well. We are so thankful for their partnership over the past six years. Each year, 30 - 50 volunteers help with Christmas programs like Toy Shop, Coat Distribution and Feed the Kids. With their assistance, we were able to provide 66,614 meals to hungry children through our Feed the Kids program in 2019. We spoke with Renee Dorn, Portfolio Specialist from Wells Fargo Asset Management in Menomonee Falls to learn more about the organization and show the impact they have on our organization.

Q. What drew your organization to The Salvation Army to volunteer?
A. We have been helping with various programs over the past few years; our volunteers find the events fun and a huge benefit to the community. The events are well organized, we are kept busy, and The Salvation Army volunteer coordinators are always friendly and energetic. It is easy to see how much The Salvation Army’s team members enjoy what they do, and how much they care for their community and the people they serve.

Q. Which of our programs has your organization been volunteering with?
A. The Toy Shop, Prison Toy Program, Feed the Kids, Coats for Kids

Q. What has been the group's favorite experience at The Salvation Army?
A. It’s a toss-up between the Feed the Kids program and Christmas Toy Shop. We have team members who are very passionate about both events and we see a lot of the same volunteers from year-to-year. I personally love “shopping” with the community members, helping them find the perfect gifts for their children, amongst all of the toys that have been donated. These parents and guardians are full of gratitude and leave the toy shop with huge smiles.

Q. What is one thing you believe the world should know about The Salvation Army?
A. The organization cares deeply for the community and is a great place to volunteer and give back to the community. The Salvation Army is an incredibly giving and thoughtful organization, and is a life-line to thousands of families in Milwaukee and across the nation.

Q. What are three words you would use to describe The Salvation Army?
A. Generous, Compassionate, Lifeline

Q. Is there anything you'd like to add?
A. Wells Fargo helps out with a lot of organizations, but I think most volunteers would agree that the Salvation Army provides the most satisfying volunteer events and worthwhile programs. Keep it up Salvation Army! Thank you for creating these great programs to help our community!

The Salvation Army is so thankful for all of the time Wells Fargo Asset Management donates to us especially during some of the busiest times of the year. April is National Volunteer Month and we wanted to share how special Wells Fargo Asset Management and all of our volunteers are to us.
