The Art of the Red Kettle: Janean Doherty
I wanted to participate in The Art of the Red Kettle because I feel it is a perfect match up my love for Jesus and art, and my desire to help the underprivileged melded together with creating something beautiful that will inspire others to help those in need! What could be better?! It makes my heart happy J My favorite aspect of The Salvation Army is how they care for children in need. There are few things worse than children suffering. And whether it be feeling hungry, cold, or sad and embarrassed because their family can’t afford school supplies or Christmas presents, I love that The Salvation Army helps them and shows them love by providing these things! I have always known of The Salvation Army and grew up admiring all the bell ringers, facing the elements, raising money for so many good causes through the red kettle collections. I always loved dropping spare coins in the kettles, imagining poor children getting Christmas presents! My inspiration for my kettle art design comes from our heavenly Father, God, the greatest artist there ever was or will be! My relationship with Him is the most important relationship in my life, and it grounds me. My deepest desire is to share His love through my art, and touch beautiful souls!

Each day until the Milwaukee County Red Kettle Kickoff, we will feature each of the artists participating in The Art of the Red Kettle. At the end of our friendly competition, there will be three artists who win the titles of Most Social Media Likes, Most Funds Raised, and Most Creative. You can help us decide! On November 9th, we will post a photo album of each artist's kettle. You can vote for your favorite kettle by liking that kettle's photo. If you'd like to help the artists raise the most funds, you can visit: salar.my/KETTLEART and donate to your favorite kettle. Funds will support The Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign which supports over 80 programs and services throughout Milwaukee County. Thank you for supporting The Salvation Army and local artists.
