The Dream: Worship Service and Creative Arts Contest
The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County is celebrating the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in a new way this year. We are holding our third annual worship service on Sunday, February 28 on our Facebook page, but we are also holding a creative arts contest.
We would love artists of all ages to create something that responds to this question: “What does Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s dream mean to you, and how do want to see it lived out in Milwaukee?”
You can choose any form of art you want! You have total artistic freedom. You could paint a picture or mural, take a photo, sing a song, choreographed dance, and more! Whatever you do, your submission must be sent digitally to nate.irvine@usc.salvationarmy.org by February 19, 2021.
Contestants will be entered to win a prize that supports black and minority-owned businesses mostly in Milwaukee:
- 1st or 2nd place: Poster of Martin Luther King by Nikkolas Smith or $125 gift card to Chef Paz Restaurant
- 3rd or 4th place: $50 to Mr. Dye’s Pies or $50 to Sauce & Spice Pizza
We hope you find this is to be a meaningful opportunity to make Martin Luther King’s dream a reality today!
