The Salvation Army joins the Chicago Bears as they prepare for the 2023 season
As the Chicago Bears get ready for the start of the 2023 season, the excitement across the city is palpable. Fans are hoping for a playoff run, and the Bears are already turning a few heads at Halas Hall.
The Salvation Army joined the Bears at training camp on Thursday, August 10th, and welcomed supporters as they came to cheer on the Monsters of the Midway. Fans had the chance to watch their team practice on the practice field, and many were lucky enough to get autographs from players and coaches.
The Salvation Army set up at the Fan Fest area of Halas Hall and welcomed fans with games, prizes, literature, and a special appearance by Captain Shield.
Men, women, and children of all ages loved the Bozo Buckets-type game, where contestants tested their skill by tossing a small, red foam Salvation Army football into our official Red Kettles. Winners (and non-winners alike) were awarded a Salvation Army Red Shield temporary tattoo.
Captain Shield made several friends who posed for photographs, and the lovable Bears mascot, Staley, even stopped by to ring the bell on behalf of The Salvation Army.
The Bears open the regular season at Soldier Field on September 10th against the Green Bay Packers.
