Wrapping Up 2017 on a Good Note
The man living on the streets... the child who goes to bed hungry... the woman searching for hope... Too often the needs of those most vulnerable in our community are overlooked. It’s our turn to make a difference and make everyone feel seen, heard and loved. Whether we help one person, one hundred people - or 27,167,320 people as The Salvation Army did last year - we know that every person's contributions matter, including our own.
At this time of year, most of us are focused on providing a happy holiday season for our loved ones and reflecting on how quickly 2017 flew by. But before the new year dawns, we still have a chance to make an impact where it really matters. Here are two ideas for wrapping up this year in the best way possible.
Contribute a Year-End Gift
From affording groceries to keeping the heat on to providing children with proper winter attire, life is full of tough choices for the 40 million Americans living in poverty today. Our Chicagoland neighbors are struggling; in need of food, clothing and other vital care that The Salvation Army can provide... with the help of compassionate people like you. Your generous support today will go a long way towards meeting the local and urgent needs for children, seniors, and other vulnerable people in our communities.
It’s not too late to give a struggling neighbor a brighter new year. From providing shelter to supporting feeding programs... from preventing human trafficking to facilitating addiction recovery... your funds will help the most vulnerable, wherever they need it most. And because The Salvation Army is a nonprofit, tax-exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3), any donation you make by 11:59 p.m. December 31st can provide a deduction on your income taxes if you itemize.
