Each year, hundreds of children and families in Minnesota and North Dakota get an experience to remember at The Salvation Army’s Northwoods Camp on beautiful Elbow Lake. Days at camp are packed with activities like swimming, hiking, fishing, camping, archery, boating, arts and crafts, music and the ropes course.
When my kids come home from camp, they come home fulfilled – both spiritually and socially.
Northwoods Camp has the same positive impact on hundreds of children every summer. The generosity of our donors allows kids to one day look back on their childhoods and think, "Yes, I do remember summer camp. I remember how awesome it was."
The Salvation Army believes camp is a great place to help kids develop physically, socially and spiritually. At camp, we are providing children with opportunities to have fun, grow in their faith and learn to get along with others and be more independent.
Our 280-acre camp serves children ages 6 to 17 who are enrolled in Salvation Army programs across Minnesota and North Dakota. Some of the kids come from turbulent inner-city neighborhoods where the wonders of nature can only be guessed at. Others come from safer surroundings where money is just to tight.
