2024 RED KETTLE CAMPAIGN KICKS OFF FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8TH WITH $145,000 GOAL
Money Raised Supports Many Year-Round Programs and Services for Struggling Neighbors
Season Dedicated in Loving Memory of Bell-Ringer Tim Kubek
The Salvation Army of Petoskey’s Red Kettle Campaign kicks off Friday, November 8th in Emmet, Charlevoix and Antrim Counties in memory of Tim Kubek who was promoted to glory on May 23, 2024. Tim was often seen doing a little dance while dressed in fun holiday outfits while ringing bells at Oleson’s Food Store in Petoskey to raise money for neighbors in need. Money raised during the holiday season goes back into our community through year-round programs and services such as food pantry, meals, senior programs, Emergency Financial Assistance, and more.
Tim deeply cared for others in our community and had no trouble asking people to dig a little deeper in their pockets to help others in need who he connected with often during his time greeting people and answering phone calls at the front desk of The Salvation Army’s Community Center. Tim was on the front line for those seeking assistance who typically are going through various difficult and emotional situations and are embarrassed to be in a position to seek help. He always put them at ease and let them know that everyone goes through hardships and that’s why The Salvation Army is here to help and made them feel welcome and cared for.
While we are comforted by the knowledge that Tim is spending this Christmas with our Lord and Savior, he will be dearly missed. Aside from ringing bells and helping others at the front desk, Tim would jump in to help grill at neighborhood Watermelon Parties, drove the bus to pick up people for Community Meals, played Santa for children and helped run addiction recovery meetings. Our hope is that his Christmas spirit and love for his fellow neighbors will spread to others and continue on for years to come.
2024 Red Kettle Chairman Tim Brubaker urges everyone to “Come out and ring at the kettle. It is fun and you are helping to spread God’s love to many people”.
Although Tim Kubek can never be replaced, The Salvation Army is hopeful that others will step up to help ring the bell and carry on his legacy of compassion for others in our community. It has become increasingly difficult to find individuals who are willing to give a couple hours of their time. Ringing is a simple gesture to share community spirit and love for your neighbors. You don’t have to ring alone, you can bring your kids, grandkids or parents and make it a holiday tradition. Please visit RegisterToRing.Com to sign up.
