The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

...Can also be the most lonely and difficult.
We provide material assistance, but also social-emotional experiences to communicate love.

"Toys are Great...But What I Miss is Family."

A Caring Community is the best gift for those who would otherwise be alone at Christmas.

How we help brighten the holidays

We seek to combat the winter blues with the joy of Jesus.  Will your children go without toys this year?  Sign up for our Toy Shoppe!  Are you in need of a festive occasion to lift your spirits?  Reserve your seat at our holiday events.  Would you like to bring Christmas Cheer to area nursing home residents?  Join us in sharing gifts, songs and smiles during Community Care Ministries visits.

Toy Shoppe
Our annual Toy Shoppe will serve approximately 600 families.  Most receive one toy per child, plus stocking stuffers.  Based on donation availability and family need, some families are "adopted" (sponsored) and receive gifts for parents and the whole family.  Intake takes place every Tuesday and Thursday from 9-5 p.m., with a break from 12-1 for lunch.  See eligibility requirements for needed documents.

¿No tiene tarjetas de seguridad social? Traiga los documentos que tiene. Podemos trabajar con usted.

We are in need of more toy donations and family sponsors.  If you would like to help run a toy drive or adopt a family or child, please contact Carlton.Elam@usc.salvationarmy.org.

Parties and Events

November 21, 12-1:30 p.m. - Community Thanksgiving Lunch.  This is our regular, twice-weekly feeding program, and will feature a time of sharing around the table, singing and a short program.  No reservations required.  To volunteer contact Mike.Lewis@usc.salvationarmy.org.

December 6, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. - Senior Luncheon - Theme: "Hidden Christmas."  This annual tradition is a community favorite featuring a carol sing, door prizes, dessert buffet and photo opportunities.  You must be 55 or older to attend.  Reservations are required.  Email Ta'Shena.Smith-Thomas@usc.salvationarmy.org or stop by the office to register.

Children's Parties are by invitation only.  If your family would benefit from participating, please contact Captain Judith.Fetzer@usc.salvationarmy.org.

Community Care Ministries
By visiting area nursing home residents, we bring the joy of Christmas to people who are often overlooked.  If you know of someone who would appreciate a visit, please email Judith.Fetzer@usc.salvationarmy.org.  If you would like to help us make visits and distribute gifts, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Mike.Lewis@usc.salvationarmy.org.
