These iconic red kettles signal the start of the holiday season. Donations collected in these buckets support the services in your neighborhood. Bell ringers are both seasonal employees and volunteers. Learn more about Bell Ringing or Register to Ring as a volunteer now.
When you're struggling financially to care for your family, holiday gifts are often not feasible. The Salvation Army Angel Tree program allows donors to purchase gifts and clothes for families in need, making their holidays brighter. Be an angel for a family in need this Christmas.
For more than 25 years, The Salvation Army in Winnebago County has hosted the Koats 4 Kids Drive to collect and distribute new and gently used winter coats to needy children living in Winnebago County. Every October, The Salvation Army panel truck is parked outside of CherryVale Mall entrance next to JC Penneys and volunteers collect coats, hats, and gloves to be hung and tagged for distributed to children and families in need at the Rockford Temple Corps. Each year, we collect more than 6,000 coats.
The Salvation Army provides Thanksgiving and Christmas meals for families unable to create a special meal themselves. We host homemade dinners at our facilities, and provide a Christmas dinner box to struggling families. Each box feeds a family of six, and includes meat, potatoes, stuffing, vegetables, biscuits, cake mix and more. Contact us for more information.
