Behind the Shield: Emily Christansen, The Salvation Army Janesville Volunteer

Emily Christansen has been the Food Pantry Assistant in Janesville for over 10 years. In her role, Emily is in charge of personal shopping for families who visit the food pantry. They offer canned goods, fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, bread and desserts at The Salvation Army Janesville Food Pantry.

Q. How did you first learn about The Salvation Army?
A. Through Craig High School.

Q. What is your favorite part about volunteering for The Salvation Army?
A. My favorite thing has been working with the people that come into the pantry and helping them get food.

Q. What has been your favorite experience with The Salvation Army?
A. I really like doing store pickups and helping with food drives.

Q. What is one thing you believe the world should know about The Salvation Army?
A. The world should know we that anyone can get food here if they need it.

Q. What are three words you'd use to describe The Salvation Army?
A. Helping others, having fun and the kindness of the people

Q. Is there anything you'd like to add?
A. I am happy to help people in need!
