how did you first learn about the salvation army?

My parents were Salvation Army Officers, so I grew up in The Salvation Army Corps (church) life. I've been a member my whole life. We learned about the Bible truths and doctrines in the youth and adult membership classes.

What made you want to become an officer?

It was never in my long-range plan to become an officer in The Salvation Army. I loved attending church and participating in music. As a teen and through young adult life, I was an active leader in groups of my corps. In 1991, God worked in my heart one Sunday during worship and prompted me to respond to His calling on my life as a Salvation Army Officer. His voice was so obvious, I had to say yes!

What is your favorite part about being an officer at tsa?

Oh, so many things. I love serving with and for people. There is something particularly special about seeing people's lives transformed in body, mind, and spirit as we have the opportunity to share the love of Jesus! We have so many opportunities to express that love to others.

what has been your favorite experience with tsa?

I love seeing people have the same passion for others that we have and joining in the mission of The Salvation Army to make a greater impact for God's kingdom. No one can do it alone. I've been very privileged to work alongside many officers, volunteers, and communities.

What is one thing you believe the world should know about tsa?

I believe that we are known for compassion, serving, and providing for basic needs. I pray that we are known for our service because we love God first!

What are a few words you'd use to describe tsa?

Jesus' followers and loving.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I've found the scripture Philippians 4:19 to be true in my life. "And My God will supply all my needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus." He is faithful and He provides.
