$300K received, $500K to Go By Christmas Eve Day

(Waukesha County, WI) Donations to The Salvation Army Waukesha County have now surpassed a critical milestone of $300,000 in the roughly three-and-a-half weeks since its annual year-end fundraising campaign began, this year on November 15th.

As of Thursday, December 12th, with $500,000 more to raise across Waukesha County, there remain just ELEVEN Red Kettle bell ringing days until 3pm, Christmas Eve, to reach the local Salvation Army's
year-end goal of $800,000.

"Although it seems we have been working from behind all season, the fact is that the bulk of donations often come in during the final week of the campaign. We frankly never know until the final days whether we will make it or not," explained Waukesha County Major, Timothy Nauta.

"This year, we lost a full week of ringing because Thanksgiving was as late on the calendar as it possibly ever be," he said.

"Beyond that, though," explained Nauta, "the response of volunteers countywide, with everyone's jam-packed schedules, has been less than needed."

"Many of our fifty Waukesha County Red Kettles are frankly, standing idle day-after-day. Not enough people are taking on the personal challenge of helping the effort. Though I have great faith,
without an active bell ringer, a Red Kettle will raise very little money, even in a great location," he said.

"The Red Kettle effort depends entirely upon friendly, respectful, low-key human interaction," Nauta explained. "If the Red Kettle stand is idle, it raises virtually no money to help feed, house and care for those most in need around us, to whom The Salvation Army of Waukesha County is dedicated, and has been for 125-years now."

We invite more volunteers, in these critical final weeks especially groups of volunteers that can take more than a single two-hour shift-- to truly step up for the cause of local humanity in need, in Waukesha County, and sign up at www.RegisterToRing.com
