Hungry is no way to spend a childhood Image

Hungry is no way to spend a childhood

Every day The Salvation Army helps cure hunger by providing nutritious meals to neighbors in need.

Here in Michigan, one out of six children face food insecurity.

The Salvation Army works to ensure that every member of our community has the food they need to thrive. If you face hunger, we want you to know that you are not alone.

The Salvation Army, Traverse City provides food, nutrition, and fellowship to area individuals and families experiencing hunger through the Community Meal program, Free Food Market, and Food Pantry at the Community Center at 1239 Barlow Street.

Community Meal Program

Sal's Kitchen is located at our Community Center and provides healthy, nutritious meals at lunch every Monday and  Wednesday from 12-1. Everyone is welcome. Community Meals are served Eat-in or To-go.

Food Pantry and Free food market

The Food Pantry is open for walk-in assistance on Monday and Thursdays from 9:30-11:30 AM and 1-3 PM.

Our Free Food Market is open for the summer. Fresh perishable food and other food items are available Monday and Wednesday from noon - 1 PM in the parking lot of the Community Center at The Salvation Army Community Center, 1239 Barlow St. for all in need. Food is based on available food donations.
