Providing Help Now and
Hope for the Future

We target the immediate effects of poverty today
and help families map out a plan for tomorrow.

Need Is Everywhere

More than 12 percent of Hastings residents live below the federal poverty line.

Because poverty does not discriminate, you likely know someone in your own neighborhood, workplace or church who is struggling to make ends meet.

How We Help Overcome Poverty

Food Programs
We offer a food pantry and a mobile dinner program during the summer for those in need. Learn more about how we help cure hunger.

Utility Assistance
No one should have to choose between heating their home during the frigid winter months and putting food on the table, and yet, sadly, many are forced to make that very choice. That's why we are grateful to work with Black Hills Energy to offer utility assistance via HeatShare funds. Learn more about HeatShare.

Material Assistance
August: Back-to-School Extravaganza

We provide school supplies to the families of K-12 students in Adams County every August before the start of the school year.

November: Thanksgiving Meal
We provide a complete Thanksgiving meal to anyone in need.

December: Christmas Assistance
Parents select new toys for their children and receive a holiday ham and gift card to a local grocery store.

Pathway of Hope
The goal of Pathway of Hope is to guide families with children 18 years and younger through crisis to a place of stability in order to ultimately break the intergenerational cycle of poverty. We offer strengths-based casework, providing services such as:

  • financial counseling and planning
  • goal setting with manageable action steps
  • job training, referrals and employment assistance
  • assistance with securing housing and childcare
  • emotional and spiritual support

Pathway of Hope works with people where they are, offering practical guidance to help families overcome obstacles and achieve their big-picture goals.
