Angel Tree 2022

Angel Giving Tree, Joy of the Christmas Season, and Love to All

The Salvation Army Angel Tree campaign is a holiday program designed to raise in-kind gifts to assist families who are experiencing financial difficulties and provide them the resources to celebrate Christmas.

How we help brighten the holidays

Seasonal Assistance programs exist due to the generosity of the La Crosse Community. It is through donations from individuals, churches, businesses, and foundations that we are able to offer this assistance to individuals and families in need. The Salvation Army is deeply thankful for the many partners who help us make these programs possible and to the many volunteers who assist us in the registration and distribution for these programs.

How it Works

Every child deserves to experience the joy of Christmas morning! The Angel Giving Tree program provides families and children with Christmas gifts, as well as a food basket containing the necessary items for a traditional holiday meal. Up to 500 families are accepted into the program each year with registration taking place October 3rd-October 21st. REGISTRATION EXTENDED THROUGH NOVEMBER 18TH. Angel Tree gifts are made possible through community donors. Christmas food baskets contain items donated by local churches, school groups, and resources through our meal program.

Families will place applications for this program. Once they are accepted, their children's *name tag* will be placed on a physical Christmas tree in one of the locations around the community. Community members are then able to grab the tags, purchase the gifts, and turn the gifts into The Salvation Army, by November 30th, 2022. *Name tags* and gifts will be identified and prepped for Distribution Day, December 14th. Distribution Day is the day all families come to pick up their gifts and food boxes - a beautiful, heartwarming day.

Walmart and Salvation Army are joining forces to #LoveBeyond for over 2.6M children in need through our Angel Tree Partnership. Supporters can donate in person at most Walmart Stores or online at the Walmart Registry.

When you visit the La Crosse or Onalaska Walmart locations you will see Angel Trees, where you can choose a tag and shop for a gift that will fulfill an angel's wishes. If you would like the option of shopping at home, you can use the Walmart Registry For Good. You can purchase a gift from the comfort of your home and have it shipped directly to The Salvation Army. Visit the Walmart Registry to shop for an angel!  The registry is named "Angel Tree of La Crosse County".

How can I help?

I want to purchase gifts for an Angel! Great! Head to Walmart, Pizza Ranch, or Advanced Auto to pick up an Angel Tag. Angel Tags will be distributed the first week of November.

I claimed an Angel Tag, now what? Purchase the items on the tag, following the recommended spending guidelines ($30-$50). Once items are purchased, please place items in a gift bag and turn the presents AND tag into The Salvation Army. Tags MUST be returned to The Salvation Army by November 30th.

Awesome! What else can I do? We need volunteers to help us register families during October, volunteers to help us sort gifts and prepare food boxes in November and December, and volunteers to help on Distribution Day - December 14th! Head over to our Volunteer Page to create a volunteer application and learn more!
