Brighten the Holidays!

Your Angel Tree donation helps keep joy and

hope alive for local families

The Salvation Army Angel Tree campaign is a holiday program designed to raise in-kind gifts to assist families who are in crisis as a result of medical issues including COVID-19, unemployment, homelessness, or other difficult circumstances and who otherwise wouldn't have the resources to celebrate Christmas. This year the need is greater than ever and we expect nearly double the demand in all of our communities.

In 2019, over 800 local children received Christmas gifts from the Salvation Army Christmas distribution. This year, the need is greater and we are serving over 1,200 local children in 2020.

How we help brighten the holidays

Seasonal Assistance programs exist due to the generosity of the La Crosse Community. It is through donations from individuals, churches, businesses, and foundations that we are able to offer this assistance to individuals and families in need. The Salvation Army is deeply thankful for the many partners who help us make these programs possible and to the many volunteers who assist us in the registration and distributions for these programs.

Christmas Assistance
Families can sign up for Christmas Assistance in late fall. Each child will be eligible for a toy, clothing (including outfit with shirt, pants, socks, underwear) and the family will be eligible for a food basket. Information on when to sign up and what documents to bring to the sign up is available beginning in October by calling (608) 782-6126.

Food Baskets
Seniors and individuals without children are eligible for food baskets for Christmas. The food baskets usually contain meat, pasta or potatoes, bread/rolls, canned goods and milk to make a holiday meal. Information on when to sign up and what documents to bring to the sign up is available beginning in October by calling (608) 782-6126.

Walmart and Salvation Army are joining forces to #RescueChristmas for over 2.6M children in need through our Angel Tree Partnership. Supporters can donate in person at most Walmart Stores or online at the Walmart Registry.

When you visit the La Crosse or Onalaska Walmart locations you will see Angel Trees, where you can choose a tag and shop for a gift that will fulfill an angel's wishes. If you would like the option of shopping at home, you can use the Walmart Registry For Good. You can purchase a gift from the comfort of your home and have it shipped directly to The Salvation Army.
