Helping individuals and families obtain household items after living in shelter.

Make a House a Home Fund

The Make a House a Home Fund was created in June 2021 to ensure that families and individuals have everything they need to make their house a home when they are moving into new housing. An anonymous donor started off with a $5,000 donation. With a community call to match we were able to raise over $8,000.00 in 2 weeks.

Our first purchase with the new fund was a washer and dryer. Thanks to an amazing community response we were able to supply a single mom with a washer and dryer to complete her new home.

We partner with many community organizations to make sure that families and individuals have the necessities for their new homes. Sometimes we are missing a few items and that is where we will now be able to use these funds to ensure our clients have what they need. If you want to help contribute to this fund please visit our virtual donation page, give us a call, stop in, or write us a check indicating that you want to donate to the Make a House a Home Fund.

When our clients and residents become "housing ready" and successfully find housing, we prepare these baskets!  Through this program, we are able to buy and supply individuals and families with Welcome Home Baskets, which include cups, plates, silverware, towels, hand soap, dishwasher soap, garbage bags, toilet paper, and more. Our voucher system allows individuals and families to obtain items from our Thrift Store as well.

Since September 15, 2022, The Salvation Army has helped 19 residents find housing - averaging 3 residents a month.
