'Stuff the Bus' to Help Families In Need
Did you know that The Salvation Army sees an increase in need every September? That’s partly because family finances are strained every year by the expense of providing backpacks, pens, pencils, notebooks, glue sticks, and other basic back-to-school items. Parents then have to make difficult choices between paying for school supplies or basic needs like groceries, the electric bill, or prescriptions.
That’s why The Salvation Army has partnered with Walmart for a "Stuff the Bus" event on Saturday, Aug. 3 to collect school supplies for children in need.
Two Ways to Donate Supplies:
- Go to a participating Walmart location on Saturday, Aug. 3. Shop for school supplies and donate them to "Stuff the Bus" using the storefront bin. Need help finding a participating Walmart store? Find and contact your local Salvation Army who can direct you to a store near you.
- Or, shop our Walmart registries online today and have the school supplies shipped directly to The Salvation Army of your choice.
All donated supplies will be distributed to local kids in need.
What can school supplies mean for a child in need?
A backpack, notebook, pencil or binder are more than just tools for a student. They help create the confidence and preparedness kids need to succeed in school. Show your support for local youth by helping ensure all students start the school year prepared. Learn more about "Stuff the Bus" by watching the video below.
