34th Annual Chicago Bears and Jewel-Osco Coat Drive
The Salvation Army joined the Chicago Bears and Jewel-Osco at Halas Hall Wednesday, November 9th, to help kick off the 34th annual Chicago Bears, Jewel-Osco coat drive.
The Salvation Army North and Central Illinois Division General Secretary and Chicago Area Commander Major Caleb Senn said at the press conference, "We all know how cold Chicago gets in the winter, join us in helping keep children and adults warm this season by donating a coat at your local Jewel-Osco."
Bears quarterback Justin Fields was on hand to help launch the drive, echoing Major Senn's sentiments urging everyone to go and donate.
Coats can be donated at all 188 Jewel-Osco Stores and at the Bears Fit location.
Bears head equipment manager, Tony Medlin, has been championing this event for 34 years and was front and center again, urging everyone to go out and donate a new or gently used coat starting November 9th.
The goal is 25,000 coats, but Major Senn said that should be a moving target, "Chicagoans are generous. 25,000 is the goal, but that's a number we can beat." Donations will be collected through February 15th.
Vouchers will be given to anyone that needs a coat, and those vouchers can be used at Salvation Army Family Stores while supplies last through February 28th.
