A Christmas to Remember
It was a Christmas morning to remember at The Salvation Army Freedom Center Harbor Light Corps.
The Salvation Army, Humboldt Park residents, and families residing at the Salvation Army Shield of Hope enjoyed a first-ever, one-of-a-kind Breakfast with Santa.
Guests enjoyed a free pancake breakfast while being entertained by Jolly Old St. Nick. Crafts were provided for children, who also got to visit with Santa.
Children received toys of all kinds, including remote control cars, dolls, Star Wars-themed gifts, and much more.
“For the first time, we had Breakfast with Santa,” said Corps Officer Captain Nikki Hughes. “It was remarkable how the community showed up on this holiday. I was grateful for the volunteers who sacrificed time with their own families to be with others. We were blessed to have a delicious breakfast with the community of Humboldt Park.”
Around 250 people braved the frigid temperatures to enjoy the morning with their neighbors in what will likely become an annual tradition.
