West Monroe Partners named Salvation Army 2016 Corporate Volunteer of the Year

Jun 27, 2016

The Salvation Army has named West Monroe Partners as the Central Territory’s corporate volunteer of the year for its many years of dedication to the Metropolitan Division. They were selected from among a pool of nominees representing 10 divisions.

For several years, employees in West Monroe Partners’ Operational Excellence have volunteered their time to do landscaping projects at corps community centers, decorate the Freedom Center for the holidays, man phone lines at radiothons, create fleece blankets for homeless clients and make thousands of sandwiches for the Army’s Mobile Feeding and Outreach unit. In total, they’ve logged more than 250 volunteer hours in three years.

“Their dedication to and support of our mission is so genuine,” said Linda Reiter, Volunteer Resource Manager for The Salvation Army Metropolitan Division. “Whatever project they do, they do it with so much energy and devotion. They come in and really try to make a difference for our clients.”

Major Nancy Powers, Freedom Center administrator, appreciates the energy and joy the employees bring with them. “We have to summon all of our energy just to keep up with you and we love it,” she told the group at a recent award ceremony. “We are planning many more projects for the next time you visit us.”

During last summer’s radiothon to benefit the Army’s Let the Music Begin program, West Monroe volunteers challenged a team member to complete a set of push ups to encourage donations from other West Monroe employees. This creative challenge resulted in the largest hourly donation total of the entire event.

The Salvation Army recently visited West Monroe Partners to present their award and host a celebration with homemade apple tarts and strawberry ice cream. The tarts were made by head chef, Thomas, who works closely with West Monroe when they volunteer at the Freedom Center.

Thank you West Monroe Partners for your support of The Salvation Army and so many other charitable organizations throughout Chicago. You truly represent the spirit of corporate social responsibility. We are proud to call your our volunteer of the year.
