New Leadership in Sheboygan County
SHEBOYGAN, WI (June 17, 2019) The Salvation Army Central Territory announced the appointment of Majors Jay and Sally Davis to the Sheboygan Corps. They replace Captains Daryl and Cherie Mangeri, who will remain with their family in Sheboygan to pursue outside roles while continuing to support the Army’s mission through volunteerism.
For the past 9 years, the Majors served at The Salvation Army in Grand Haven, Michigan. They met at training college in 1975, and married two years later. Since 1977 they have worked side by side to fulfill their calling by serving others in a variety of Salvation Army appointments across the Midwest.
As Salvation Army officers, the Majors expect to be reassigned throughout their careers. The commitment of being an officer includes moving your family frequently, and accepting reassignments based on career development and filling the needs of The Salvation Army locations. The Majors’ assignment in Sheboygan is an acknowledgement of their ability to manage a large social services program and growing congregation.
Major Sally Davis asserts, “we believe that The Salvation Army programs make a difference in people’s lives…impacting the community where it serves”. Sheboygan county residents will benefit from their history of involvement in programs such as emergency housing, client choice food pantries, community meals, summer recreational opportunities, youth programming and Christmas toy distribution.
The Majors will arrive in Sheboygan in late June, with their first Sunday worship service scheduled for 10:45 am on June 30 at the Sheboygan Corps Community Center, 710 Pennsylvania Ave., Sheboygan. All are welcome and encouraged to worship with the new officers.
