Because No one should Go to Bed Hungry

Every day The Salvation Army helps fight hunger by providing nutritious meals to our neighbors in need.

On target to serve 42,000 meals this year

The Salvation Army of Jefferson County serves nearly 3,500 meals every month averaging 123 meals every day.

More Than a Meal

When I came to The Salvation Army, I was hungry. I had not had a meal in days. I walked into the feeding program and what I found was so much more than a meal. I found community. I found a place to experience God's love and Mercy. I found hope.

Operating Jefferson County's Only Ongoing Feeding Program

Within the home, there is no better meeting place than the kitchen table. The table is where families sit, talk, laugh, learn, and grow stronger together. We see the Lord's kitchen serving as that same meeting place. We love to see people from all walks of life sitting down and sharing a meal together, learning, growing, loving as a community together. The Salvation Army is honored to be Jefferson county's only ongoing feeding program, providing over 42,000 meals for the community!

The Lord's Kitchen:

The Lord's Kitchen serves as the only regular feeding program in Jefferson County. These Free and healthy meals are provided Monday through Friday, in our kitchen, at the following times:

Breakfast:  9:00 - 10:00 AM

Lunch:  Noon - 1:00 PM

The Salvation Army also works with the Madison End of the Month Meal to provide meals to shut-ins and those who come to The Salvation Army on the last Saturday of every month.  The Lord's Kitchen is open from 11:00 until Noon on the final Saturday of each month.

As Jefferson County's only feeding program, this means we get the joy of serving a meal to those who would not otherwise receive a hot meal. How can you partner with us in this ministry? As you can imagine the cost to run this program is not small, anytime food donations are brought in, this removes a significant financial burden and provides food to those who need it the most. We run a very tight budget and have only one paid staff to run this program: volunteers are the backbone of our ministry.

Consider volunteering your time in the Lord's kitchen. We are a health department approved kitchen which means we can handle your leftovers! Have food you didn't eat the night before, don't throw it away, we can use it. Do you work at a restaurant and are burdened by how much food is thrown away every day, we would love to reduce your waste and feed those in need! Let's partner together to help those in need in our community.
