We combat natural disasters with acts of God

Disasters of incredible magnitude call for people of incredible generosity.

Strong Teams Build Strong Communities

With over 30 members across 7 counties, The Salvation Army is equipped to respond to events large and small. 

The Salvation Army was there

The flood had filled our home and we were lost as to what to do next. I have never felt so helpless or hopeless in my life. I look up and see The Salvation Army truck driving past passing our buckets full of cleaning supplies. I know everything was going to be okay because The Salvation Army was there.

How we help disaster survivors

The Salvation Army of Jefferson County is active in combating disaster locally, regionally, and nationally. With a team of 30 trained individuals ready to serve their community in a moments notice. From a 3 am house fire or a 3 pm hostage situation, our team is there to provide relief to first responders and victims of disasters.

Mobile Canteen
Our mobile canteen can often be seen at the scene of fire providing hydrations and snacks to first responders keeping them physically capable to respond to events.

Emotional Spiritual Care
Team members trained in QPR, Mental Health First Aid, Grife follow a trauma, psychological first aid are able to help families who have lost everything in a disaster. We also assist first responders process through traumatic events

 

Emergency Shelter
In the cold of winter, The Salvation Army EDS team opens a shelter to provide safe and warm housing to lose living outdoors. We additionally open shelter after a large-scale disaster to house displaced survivors.
