The Emergency Lodge Homeless Shelter

Lodge staff are dedicated to connecting residents to all applicable resources to help them move torward permanent housing.

The needs of the homeless population are varied and complex. 

Since 1979, the 120-bed Emergency Lodge, located at 1730 N 7th St. in Milwaukee, has provided emergency shelter to homeless individuals and families with children. Lodge staff are dedicated to connecting residents to all applicable resources to help them move torward permanent housing.

Services include:

Resident Requirements:

  • Residents must be drug and alcohol-free
  • Each resident is assigned a primary social worker to develop an individualized plan for self-sufficiency
  • Residents must establish income, either through employment or benefits, and save a percentage of their income in preparation for their move to housing in the community

Accommodations:

  • Residents stay in semi-private rooms
  • Three nutritious meals are served per day
  • There are laundry facilities available

how to request accommodations:

Regular Lodge Beds for Single Males, Single Females and/or Families:·

  • The Lodge does not take walk-in referrals, instead utilizing Coordinated Entry/211 for screening and referrals for any openings.    
  • Contact 211/Coordinated Entry at (414) 773-0211 for possible placement.

Department of Corrections Beds at Lodge:·

  • Individuals on probation and/or parole, should speak with their agent about next steps for possible placement at the Lodge.
